Contemporary Colonial Addition | Milton, MA

This thoughtfully designed Colonial home addition expanded a traditional Milton residence with a generous family kitchen, mudroom, new primary suite, and supporting living spaces. Every addition was carefully proportioned and detailed to blend seamlessly with the original home, creating spaces that feel timeless, functional, and filled with natural light.

Designed to complement the scale and character of the original Colonial, this contextual home addition transformed a traditional Milton residence into a home better suited for modern family living. The project focused on expanding the home’s most heavily used spaces while preserving the architectural integrity that defines classic New England Colonial design.

At the center of the renovation is a spacious custom kitchen featuring painted inset cabinetry, a warm walnut island, quartz countertops, handcrafted tile, and abundant natural light. The oversized island creates a natural gathering place for cooking, entertaining, and everyday family life, while thoughtfully integrated storage—including a custom glass-front pantry and beverage station—supports both functionality and organization.

Adjacent living spaces flow seamlessly from the kitchen, creating stronger connections between cooking, dining, and family rooms. A new mudroom provides durable storage for an active household, while carefully designed circulation improves the overall efficiency of the home’s floor plan.

The project also included beautifully detailed bathrooms with timeless finishes, custom millwork throughout, and a refined material palette that balances warmth with understated elegance. Every architectural decision was guided by the goal of creating spaces that feel original to the home rather than obviously new.

From the exterior, the addition respects the proportions, rooflines, and detailing of the existing Colonial, ensuring the completed home appears cohesive from every angle. The result is a carefully crafted expansion that enhances both everyday living and long-term value while remaining authentic to the home’s architectural heritage.
